BS 10119:2026 – The Next Chapter in COP119 Labour Provider Compliance

Today, on 1 June 2026, the British Standards Institution (BSI) published BS 10119:2026, Provision of Labour in the Security and Events Sector – Code of Practice.

Developed on the foundations of COP 119, BS 10119 provides a nationally recognised and certifiable framework for organisations supplying labour to the security and events sectors. The standard covers workforce management, screening and vetting, training, SIA licensing compliance, right-to-work checks, employment documentation, and operational controls.

It is important to note that BS 10119 has not yet been rolled out as a replacement for COP 119. Existing COP 119 certifications and schemes remain valid, and Tritact® Consulting continues to provide COP 119 consultancy, implementation, and certification support services. As the market evolves, we will also assist organisations in transitioning from COP 119 to BS 10119 where appropriate.

BS 10119 is expected to help raise standards across the industry by improving transparency, promoting fair employment practices, reducing the risks associated with rogue labour providers, and strengthening confidence throughout the labour supply chain.

In my view, BS 10119 represents the natural evolution of COP 119 and is likely to become an important benchmark for professionalism, compliance, and responsible labour provision within the security and events sectors.
